CO2 fire extinguishers are suitable for fires involving flammable liquids (class B) and electrical equipment. They contain pure carbon dioxide which is a clean extinguishant, leaving no residue. CO2 fire extinguishers are ideal for server rooms where there is a large electrical fire risk. Our carbon dioxide fire extinguishers are fitted with a frost-free horn to prevent the operator getting frost burn when extinguishing. All of our CO2 extinguishers are CE marked, certified, fully charged, and supplied with a wall bracket. We recommend they are installed and commissioned by a BAFE certified engineer.

A CO2 fire extinguisher works on fires involving live electrical equipment and flammable liquids. Carbon dioxide smothers the fire and starves it of oxygen, therefore putting the fire out. These extinguishers don’t leave any residue unlike other types of fire extinguishers, such as powder and foam. However, they should be used with caution in confined spaces as the rapid discharge of CO2 can displace breathable air, leading to breathing difficulty and unconsciousness due to the lack of oxygen.
CO2 fire extinguishers contain only carbon dioxide gas in a highly compressed format (55 bar pressure). It will evaporate without trace, and suffocates fire by starving the fire of oxygen. As the CO2 expands through the jet (horn), it becomes very cold, so cold in fact that the gas can cause frost damage to skin. Therefore, when choosing your fire extinguisher, make sure that you select an extinguisher with a frost-free horn.
A CO2 fire extinguisher is specifically designed to extinguish fires fuelled by flammable liquids (class B) and live electrical equipment. It discharges carbon dioxide which displaces oxygen and suffocates the fire. CO2 fire extinguishers can be identified by their black label, and are usually found in industrial settings such as laboratories, commercial kitchens, and places with electrical equipment.
CO2 fire extinguishers can be by the black identification field with the words CO2 or 'Carbon Dioxide' printed on this black field. CO2 extinguishers also have no pressure gauge and a discharge horn rather than a hose. You can often find them paired with a water fire extinguisher in many settings to cover multiple fire risks.
