The DETA 1111 and 1113 are mains powered smoke alarms with a replaceable 9V alkaline back-up battery. As the DETA alarms are now discontinued, easichange® have developed a range of replacements to be fully backward-compatible with your outgoing DETA alarms and their mounting plates. The SBBRKSM is the ideal replacement for the 1111 and 1113 alarms as it has been designed and tested to fit onto your existing alarm bases so you don't even need an electrician.

The SBBRKSM is a mains powered smoke alarm with a replaceable 9V alkaline backup battery, like the DETA 1111 and 1113 that it replaces, to ensure you remain protected even in the event of a power cut. The optical sensor technology improves on the detection of slow smouldering fires and reduces the chances of false activations. A central test/hush button makes maintenance of your alarm quick and simple. Featuring a hardwire interlink allowing compatible easichange® alarms to communicate with each other over the same wiring as your old DETA alarms, so that all will sound the alarm if one detects a fire.

The simple installation process of the easichange® replacement kits negates the need for an electrician, though you must ensure that mains power to all interlinked alarms is cut before beginning work. The interlink wire can carry a live electric current between alarms if they are powered from different circuits.

Please Note: We recommend replacing all alarms in the system together to maintain optimum system operation; failing to do so may compromise interlink performance.

Compatible Alarms

It is important to select the correct easichange® alarm to replace your obsolete DETA models. The table below will help you select the correct replacement alarm. Please note that you can replace your existing optical and ionisation alarms with an easichange optical alarm, however your heat alarm can only be replaced with an easichange heat alarm.

Installation

The DETA 1111, 1113, and 1115 alarms were rebranded BRK models, but otherwise identical. This easichange® range was initially developed to replace discontinued BRK alarms, but is fully compatible with the equivalent DETA models as well. In general, the steps for maintaining and replacing DETA alarms is the same as for BRK 600MBX series alarms.

The simple installation process of the easichange® replacement kits, described below, negates the need for an electrician, though you must ensure that mains power to all interlinked alarms is cut before beginning work. The interlink wire can carry a live electric current between alarms if they are powered from different circuits.

Installation Steps

Turn off the power at your fuse box or consumer unit.
- Take care to turn off all circuits powering any of your alarms, as the interlink wire can carry a live electric current.
Remove your old DETA smoke or heat alarm from its baseplate by twisting and the unplugging the connector.
Insert the supplied 9V battery into your easichange® replacement alarm and close the unit securely.
- Test the alarm to make sure it is powered up from the backup battery!
Install the alarm on your old DETA baseplate:
- Connect the plug so that the wires of the connector line up with the pins on the alarm.
- Twist the alarm fully onto the baseplate.
Repeat steps 2 to 4 for all of your old DETA alarms.
- We recommend replacing all alarms in the system together to maintain optimum system operation; failing to do so may compromise interlink performance.
Turn the power back on at the fuse box.
Test each of your smoke alarms separately to ensure the whole system is functioning correctly. When you test one alarm, they should all sound, however it is important to press the test button on each alarm too.

Good replacement smoke alarm I don't normally use deta smoke alarms but needed a single replacement to avoid replacing all interlinked alarms. Although only around 6 years old the existing deta alarms have been discontinued. However I managed to find this online that is the newer version of the existing model, and is compatible with all the other interlinked alarms. This site was a good find and the price was reasonable too. Delivered within the allocated time and a perfect replacement. Will definitely use safelincs again if this issue arises in the future.
