The Ei600RF series of battery powered smoke and heat alarms are ideal for properties where the installation of mains powered alarms would cause unnecessary mess and disruption. The built-in RadioLINK+ modules allow wireless connection between all the linked alarms in your property including many other Aico and Ei Electronics products, helping to ensure all building occupants are are given the earliest possible warning of a potential fire.
Please Note: These units use the radio-interlink frequency 868.499MHz. This bandwidth is restricted for safety products, therefore the chances of interference should be limited.
The table below shows all the units that can interlink with the EI600 Series.

Wiring Explained
Mains powered Ei Electronics smoke and heat alarms require a 230V AC power supply and up to 12 alarms can be hardwire interlinked in one system.
To obtain a mains power supply, each alarm can be connected to the nearest lighting circuit using 2 core and earth cable with a separate, dedicated interlink cable connecting alarms where applicable. However, if possible it is recommended that any alarms connected via interlink cable are all powered from a dedicated circuit from the distribution board using 3 core and earth cable for safety during maintenance, as the interlink cable will carry power from live alarms on other power circuits. Product Datasheets |
The Ei600 series does not conform to grades A & D, it conforms to grade F, relating to battery operated interlinking smoke detection. Both grade A and grade D systems relate to mains powered interlinking alarm systems. The alarms that would be suitable for your application are the Ei140 series and the Kidde Firex.
The Ei600 series of radio-interlinked alarms are completely battery operated. This means that they do not need to be wired up to the mains circuit. On the website, we offer the Ei600 series with a standard 9v battery or with a 10 year lithium longlife battery. The standard 9V batteries last approximately 12-18 months depending on how often the detectors are tested. The lithium battery units are sealed and last 10 years i.e. the full lifespan of the detector.
If one alarm was to malfunction the other units would not be affected, if it was due to alarm failure. If the fault was with the radio-interlinking signal, then all alarms that are in the chain after the faulty alarm would be affected and they would not go off.
No, you do not need to remove all the batteries. Just simply press the house code button on all the units. Please ensure that the batteries have full power as this could render the house code process incomplete.
Yes, radio interlinked alarms are periodically sending and receiving signals from other units in the network and therefore the life of the battery is reduced. Units with alkaline batteries should have the batteries are changed annually [unless they are fitted with a sealed 10 year battery as eg in the Ei600RF series].
Yes, should the radio interlinking signal fail the units will continue to sound independently should they detect a fire.
The EI600RF series are a later model and on top of all the features that the Ei3100RF offers, the series has the possibility to use the locate feature in the control switch, making the product more similar to a BS5839 part 6 Grade A alarm system. Additionally, the Ei600 series smoke alarms are offered with a true ten year life sealed lithium battery which makes the alarms acceptable in most circumstances as a BS5839 part 6 Grade D fire alarm system. This offers a substantial saving to customers, as it replaces the need for an electrician installing mains powered alarms.
Yes, the Ei208WRF CO detector is suitable and we recommend that you also install a Ei412 locator switch to allow you to find out if an alarm was caused by CO gas or by a fire.
BS 5446-1:2000 was withdrawn in 2008 and replaced by BS EN 14604:2005 to conform with European standards. All of our alarms containing a smoke detector (smoke only, smoke & heat, smoke & CO) are fully compliant with BS EN 14604:2005. They also comply with any other relevant standards relating to their other detection capabilities.
Hello. The radioLINK repeater function allows the smoke alarm to "repeat" the radio frequency signal around obstructions. This stops the signal from becoming blocked and ensures that all interlinked alarms can be reached. This repeater function is built-in to the the Ei168RC radioLINK base (with Ei140, Ei160 or Ei2110 alarm), the Ei600 series of radio interlinked battery powered smoke and heat alarms as well as the Ei262 and Ei208WRF carbon monoxide alarms as standard. When house coded, the system works itself out which alarms are to act as repeaters - it's not something you set up yourself.
