The battery compartment is located on the outside of the safe, so can be replaced even when the safe is locked.
There are holes in the bottom of the fire safe which are closed with plastic plugs. Just remove the plugs, mark the position on the floor, remove the safe, drill holls, fit plugs (provided). Then move fire safe back into place and fit bolts (provided). The bolts provided are designed for use in concrete floors. For other types of floors you need to purchase different screws.
These figures represent general recommendations by the manufacturers and accepted by insurance companies. This is only relevant when the safe and its rating has been requested by the insurance. However, they still offer a guidance for shoppers
Yes, houses certainly tend to burn longer. However, the hottest zone of the fire moves through the house, as the fire spreads. Again, this test result has to be seen in context. The safe is most likely on a floor where the temperature in a fire is the lowest. It is unlikely that the safe would ever be exposed to these sort of temperatures for any extended period of time. Nevertheless, the test values give you a good understanding about the resistance of each of the different fire safes on offer. In the tests, the fire safe goes into a furnace at theses temperatures, so its quite a tough testing regime.

Just a personal thing but I would prefer the fixing bolts inside the safe to be flush or countersunk to give a smooth base interior.

A good product at a reasonable price. Hopefully it will never have the ultimate test!

Solid, secure and simple to use. It uses normal AA batteries, which can be changed when the safe is closed. It's easy to use and change the code, and has more than enough space for my needs. The door has to be opened wider than I expected, so the safe needs about 1/2 it's width of extra space on the right side if placed near a wall.
