Carried out at your own premises, First Response Training refresher courses are completed by a qualified first aid trainer who attends your choice of location, saving you on the time and money of travel expenses. On-site first aid refresher courses from First Response Training are certificated; awarded to candidates who successfully complete the training.

Duration and Level of Assessment

First Aid Awareness on-site training is a half day (3 hour) course. Candidates are assessed by a qualified first aid trainer through continuous observation. All successful candidates receive a First Response Training certificate - valid for 3 years.

Course Contents

The First Aid Awareness course has been designed for those looking to increase their knowledge of basic first aid skills but do not require (under health and safety regulations) to learn resuscitation or CPR techniques. Learning objectives of the First Aid Awareness course are shown below.

• List the stages of incident assessment
• Demonstrate adult resuscitation
• Demonstrate the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• Explain and demonstrate adult choking procedures
• Demonstrate the management on an unconscious casualty
• Be able to control severe bleeding and treat for shock
• Describe the treatment for burns and scalds
• Explain how to work within the limits of their new skills
