A floor mounted fire door retainer from Geofire. The fire door retainer is fitted to the floor and magnetically holds a steel plate which is fitted to the fire door. In case of fire or if the power supply fails, the holder releases the door and allows it to close.

Q. Do the floor mounted door holders have to be wired to the fire alarm system, or is the release mechanism activated by a loud noise?
A.
The floor mounted fire door holder does have to be wired into the fire alarm panel as when the alarm sounds the magnet inside the unit moves and thereby releases the door. Dorgard is an alternative door closer that does not require wiring into the alarm system and is activated by the sound of the fire alarm.
