Understanding the importance of good CPR when treating a sudden cardiac arrest, the HeartSine Samaritan PAD 500P defibrillator can assess the effectiveness of compressions and provide CPR feedback voice prompts throughout. The analysis is carried out electrically through the electrode pads based on real cardiac output (blood flow), rather than relying on compression pressure level only. The defibrillator unit tells the rescuer to "push harder" or if they are providing "good compressions". As a semi-automatic device, the HeartSine Samaritan PAD 500P administers a shock at the push of a button, and can be used by rescuers from trained lay responders to medical professionals.
