The Kidde HomeProtect 10 year smoke alarm is fitted with a sealed lithium battery that is designed to last the entire guaranteed lifespan of the alarm. An optical sensor delivers quicker detection of slow smouldering fires that tend to produce a lot of smoke, such as those involving the soft furnishings and electrical appliances common in the bedroom. As well as a standard alarm sound the Kidde HomeProtect also issues a voice alert so that occupants are more quickly alerted when awoken from sleep.
