    [content] => <p>BS 8599-1:2019 is a new British Standard that was published on 10th January 2019 to replace the previous standard (BS 8599-1:2011). The standard specifies the minimum level that first aid kits should conform to and it gives guidelines for the correct quantities of plasters, bandages, sterile wipes, etc. that should be included in the small, medium, large and travel kits. It also gives guidance on how many kits of which size would be required by an organisation.</p>

<p>Changes made to the composition of the workplace kits include:</p>
<ul>
<li>The exclusion of safety pins, to reduce the risk of needle stick injuries</li>
<li>The number of tape rolls have been increased in the medium and large kits</li>
<li>The number of medium dressings has been reduced and the number of large dressings has been increased</li>
</ul>
