Di-electrical testing allows manufacturers to establish if the fire extinguisher is safe for use if accidentally discharged onto fires involving live electrical equipment. The conductivity test is carried out in accordance with with BS EN3-7 Clause 9, where the current at 35kV is monitored before and during a fire extinguisher discharge. To pass the test, the required current at 35kV needs to be less than or equal to 0.5mA.
