		<h1>Testing & Maintenance Schedule</h1>
		<p>It is vital that you test your and maintain your Dorgard to ensure that it will activate in an emergency situation. Below are a set of guidelines that will help you to effectively test your Dorgard installation.</p>
		<h1>Testing you Dorgard (weekly)</h1>
		<ol>
 			<li>Open the door with the installed Dorgard and press down the plunger to hold the door open</li>
			<li>Test your fire system ensuring that the alarm located in the region is sounding. Allow the alarm to sound for a minimum of 30 seconds</li>
			<li>Ensure that the LED on the top of the Dorgard flashes every second indicating that it is hearing your alarm</li>
			<li>The Dorgard unit will sound a warning tone, alerting users that the door will be released. Once the Dorgard has released the door the unit will re-activate in approximately 10 seconds and will be ready to be reset</li>
			<li>After approximately 20 seconds the Dorgard will release the plunger and close the door</li>
			<li>If the Dorgard unit does not respond to your fire alarm, it may be that the alarm is not loud enough for your Dorgard and the Dorgard needs to be adjusted (see below for adjusting the sensitivity of your Dorgard unit)</li>
		</ol>
		
		<h2>Self-Test Feature</h2>
		<p>To ensure that the Dorgard is working, a preset 7 day test will take place with the Dorgard unit deactivating its plunger and releasing any door that it is holding open. Should the Dorgard units detect any internal fault the unit will release its plunger and activate a warning tone.</p>

			<h2>Trouble Shooting Guide</h2>
		<p>Trouble shooting introduction</p>
		<p class="sm"><strong>Dorgard is not releasing to Fire Alarm</strong></p>
		<ul>
			<li>Check the fire alarm sounds for a minimum of 30 sec.</li>
			<li>Check the fire door is able to close without obstruction</li>
			<li>Check that the plunger has a minimum of 10mm down travel before the ferrule touches the floor</li>
			<li>Check the fire alarm is louder than 65dB at the location of the Dorgard unit</li>
			<li>Adjust the sensitivity if required</li>
		</ul>

		<p class="sm"><strong>Dorgard releases to no apparent sound</strong></p>
		<ul>
			<li>As a safety precaution the Dorgard will release to a continuous sound that is louder than 65dB</li>
			<li>Check that Dorgard is fitted on the correct side of the fire door (the side that closes into the door frame)</li>
			<li>The Dorgard is will release if the door is pushed in the direction of opening</li>
			<li>The Dorgard will self-test every 7 days causing a it to release</li>
			<li>Adjust the sensitivity if required</li>
		</ul>

		<p class="sm"><strong>The fire door creeps closed</strong></p>
		<ul>
			<li>Check the condition of the ferrule, if it is worn or damaged it needs to be replaced</li>
			<li>Check the Dorgard is installed at the correct height. The plunger should have an ideal down travel of 10 - 15mm</li>
			<li>Check the overhead door closer is not closing the door with excessive force. If this is the case try fitting the floorplate</li>
			<li>Check that the floor surface is  not too slippery. If this is the case try fitting the floorplate</li>
		</ul>

		<p class="sm"><strong>Dorgard does not hold the fire door open</strong></p>
		<ul>
			<li>Check the plunger is correctly depressed</li>
			<li>Check that the battery compartment is correctly sealed and that the batteries are in good working order</li>
			<li>Check the Dorgard is installed at the correct height. The plunger should have an ideal down travel of 10 - 15mm</li>
			<li>Check that Dorgard is fitted on the correct side of the fire door (the side that closes into the door frame)</li>
		</ul>

		<h2>Maintenance Tips</h2>
		<p>In addition to the weekly test the Dorgard should be maintained by:</p>
		<p><strong>Monthly</strong> - Dust the unit checking that the 3 holes for the microphone are open and clear of any dust, dirt etc</p>
		<p><strong>6 Monthly</strong> - Check the condition of the ferrule and that the unit is still firmly attached to the fire door</p>
		<p><strong>Yearly</strong> - Carry out the 6 monthly maintenance check and replace the batteries</p>

		<h2>Adjusting the Sensitivity</h2>
		<p>Dorgards are a potentially life saving piece of equipment and it is vital that they are suitable for the intended environment. that you install them in is vital. If you do need to adjust your Dorgard's sensitivity then follow the appropriate steps below being careful not to over-alter the settings. The Dorgard's adjustment screw does have a limit, turning the screw either way will eventually meet some resistance.  At this point cease turning to avoid damaging your Dorgard unit.</p>

		<p><strong>If the Dorgard is not sensitive enough and does not respond to the fire alarm</strong></p>	
		<ol>
			<li> Locate the adjustment  hole on the front panel of the Dorgard unit.</li>
		  <li>Insert the adjustment  screwdriver into the screw in the hole.</li>
		  <li>Turn the screwdriver  approximately 5 degrees in a clockwise direction. <strong>Be careful not to over-adjust, what may feel like a  small turn can have a large effect on the Dorgard  unit.</strong></li>
		  <li>Carry out the standard testing sequence ensuring that the Dorgard now activates upon  recognizing the fire alarm sound.</li>
		  <li> If the alteration has  not enabled the Dorgard to activate then repeat steps 1 to 4</li>
		</ol>
		
		<p><strong>If the Dorgard is too sensitive and releases when there is no fire alarm</strong></p>	
		<ol>
			<li>Follow steps 1-4 above with the exception of step 2 where the screw should be turned anti-clockwise</li>
		</ol>
