  Slave fittings sold by Safelincs can be installed for either maintained or non-maintained operation, determined by the setup of the backup battery system rather than the individual fittings.

<p><strong>Maintained Operation</strong></p>
<p>
  When in maintained operation the lamp of an emergency luminaire stays on constantly at all times and stays lit for the minimum emergency duration after a mains failure.
</p>

<p><strong>Non-Maintained Operation</strong></p>
<p>
  When in non-maintained operation the lamp of an emergency luminaire will only light in the event of a mains failure and will stay lit for the minimum emergency duration required.
</p>

<p><strong>Switchable Operation</strong></p>
<p>
  An emergency light unit that can be wired to a switch, allowing it to be turned on or off for regular use (switching the unit between maintained and non-maintained operation).
</p>
<p><em>Please Note: Slave fittings can be wired to a switch, but it is an involved process that relies heavily on the system's design.</em></p>
