As there is a maximum number of devices which can be installed on a single loop, Advanced have added a feature to their fire alarm control panels called Auto Learn. This feature polls each potential address on a loop to check for an installed device, and if one is found it will pull the device's details to show to the engineer. Auto Learn speeds up new installations by finding and setting default configurations for all devices found on each loop, immediately providing basic protection to the premises.
Running Auto Learn on an existing system can also be helpful as it will notify the engineer of new or removed devices and allow immediate action to be taken, such as configuring new devices to default settings or deleting removed devices from memory to reset fault indicators. Auto Learn can also detect when the device at an address has been changed from one type to another, such as from an ionisation detector to a multi-sensor.
