Public

Final exit doors accessible to the public must be fitted with panic hardware. Panic hardware is designed to be as simple to use as possible with minimum effort required to release the door. It is likely that occupants of the building will have little or no prior knowledge of operation.

Non-Public

Final exit doors only to be used by trained personnel (such as in a place of work never accessed by the public) should be fitted with emergency hardware. Emergency devices require only a single point of operation e.g. a push pad to release the door.
