The DDA was introduced in 1995 and introduced new laws aimed at stopping the discrimination that many disabled people face. The DDA gives disabled people new rights of access to goods, facilities and services.
The DDA has guidelines which recommend that door closers should not exert an excessive resistance. This is defined as:

Between 30° and 60° the force should not exceed 22Nm
