Water Mist Fire Extinguishers
Our water mist fire extinguishers contain only de-ionised water. They are environmentally friendly, contain no harmful substances, and leave no residue when discharged. They are also safe for use on live electrical equipment, making them an ideal replacement for the AFFF foam extinguishers which will soon be subject to international restrictions.
They are suitable for cooking oil and fat fires, and can be used on clothing fires without causing additional harm to the person.

Can water mist extinguishers be used on cooking oil fires?
Traditional water extinguishers deliver a jet of water which penetrates the surface of the burning fat, sinks because it is heavier than fat, and almost instantly evaporates. This rapid expansion pushes the burning fat out of the pan or deep fat fryer, creating violent flares and spreading the fire. The water mist created by our extinguishers is so fine that it does not sink into the fat. Most of the droplets evaporate above the fat, remove oxygen from the surface, bind radicals (the molecules responsible for keeping flames going) and cool the surface. That is why our water mist extinguishers are suited to fight small F-Class fires such as on shallow frying pans and domestic deep fat fryers (typically 2 to 3 litres). On larger fat and cooking oil fires, such as commercial deep fat fryers, there is a larger surface area burning and a much larger volume of oil to cool, which may still be disturbed by the instant evaporation of the water mist droplets; for this reason we recommend a wet chemical extinguisher for fires above a 5F rating.
Are water mist extinguishers suitable for HMOs?
The dry water mist extinguishers can be installed in HMOs without the risk of incorrect use and without the danger of harmful use of the extinguishers. The extinguishers are so easy to use and can be used on all common household risks that the user is at no risk of confusion or wrongly approaching the fire. The water mist also protects the user from heat. Should a tenant try to use an extinguisher as an offensive weapon, the discharge of the water mist extinguisher is at low pressure and not harmful and the water itself is of course completely harmless.
Are water mist extinguishers suitable for use in schools?

Can water mist extinguishers be used on clothing fires?
Clothing or textiles are solid combustibles, making them a Class A fire risk. Water Mist extinguishers have been shown to be very effective against this type of fire. This is ideal for retail premises, as Water Mists use de-ionised water and therefore do not leave any chemical residue. This means that nearby clothing which has not yet caught fire will not be damaged upon discharge.
